Michael Moran

Managing Director | Senior Partner

Mike is Managing Director of CFG Brokerage Network. He is dedicated to supporting advisors and financial institutions by providing the best possible solution for their clients.

Mike began his career as a financial advisor in 2002 focusing on comprehensive financial planning. In 2006, Mike changed focus of his practice to comprehensive planning for business owners and created a business advisory group. In 2009, Mike merged his group into Commonwealth Financial Group where he became Senior Partner and the Managing Director of CFG Brokerage Network.

Mike continues to work with advisors to help business owners get the most out of their business in ways that matter most to them. He specializes in business advisory services, including individual wealth management, executive and employee benefits, long-term care and Medicare, disability income protection, life insurance, investment and succession strategies.


Richard A. St. Jean, Jr.

CEO & Managing Partner

 Rick is a graduate of Fordham University and started out in Financial Services as a producer, developing a very successful private practice.

As his practice grew, Rick took on the challenge of sales management by helping others around him achieve similar levels of success.

Rick remains actively involved in coaching his team on best practices for achieving unlimited growth and he is a sought out speaker both in and out of the industry on entrepreneurial topics including "Taking Your Practice to the Next Level", "Strategic Business Planning", "Attracting to a Higher Profile", "Marketing to a Better Client", "Being the Best You Can Be", "The Art and Science of the Business Market", "and "From Success to Purpose."

He has been recognized by both the former Connecticut Mutual and MassMutual, receiving the prestigious President's Honorary Award, Management Council and Crystal Achievement Awards as well as the Chairman's Trophy award.

Mr. St. Jean has earned many industry and public awards. He donates a generous portion of his time on several nonprofit, industry, and educational boards and organizations. Rick lives in Concord with his wife, Nancy and their two children.


Michael V. Pappalardo

Director, Finance and Operations

Mike joined Commonwealth Financial Group in 2011 as the firm's Director of Finance and Operations.  His core focus is to manage the overall performance of the firm.  

Prior to joining CFG, he held numerous roles in the area of finance, specializing in profitability and cost analysis.  Mike earned his Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Accounting from Northeastern University in 2007. He currently resides in Saugus, MA and in his free time he enjoys hiking, biking and spending time with his bulldog, Clifford.


Albert W. Bud Schram, CLU

Brokerage Director

Bud has been with Commonwealth Financial Group for over 30 years and started with the firm as a recruiter, trainer and supervisor of new agents.

Bud assists agents of other companies and independent brokers in the sale of MassMutual life insurance products.

He has experience in design and implementation of business and estate planning cases and in the many benefits/ uses of Life Insurance

Bud lives with his wife in Needham, MA and has two sons.

In the past, Bud has served as President of the Boston Life Underwriters Association, President of the Boston Life Underwriter Foundation and the President of the Massachusetts Life Underwriters Association.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing piano and tennis. He is also involved on the boards of the American Jewish Committee, Interfaith Committee for Action, and Ron Burton Training Village. 


Kevin B. Rose

Brokerage Director

Kevin joined CFG Brokerage Network in April of 2016 when his Southern New England agency of MassMutual merged with CFG. Kevin has been a Brokerage Director for 2 years with MassMutual. In his role as a Brokerage Director, Kevin assists agents and independent brokers in the sale of Life, Disability Income, Long Term Care Insurance & Fixed Annuities.

Kevin started in the Life Insurance business 35 years ago. He spent his first 20 years with NML, first as a Producer, then as a Recruiter and finally as a District Agent building the North Shore Agency for NML. Kevin then joined the Guardian Life Insurance Co. and was there for 12+ years. He started as a District Agent and built an Agency for them in Wakefield on the North Shore of Boston.

Kevin currently lives in Ipswich, Ma. with his wife Annie and son Daniel. Kevin is a graduate of Wesleyan University and was recently inducted into their Baseball Wall of Fame. In his spare time, he is a competitive racquetball player and ocean swimmer.

Pete Smellie

Brokerage Manager

Prior to joining CFG Brokerage Network, Pete worked at Guardian Life Insurance Company of America as an Internal Wholesaler, Multi Life Disability for the past five years. In his role, Pete focused on educating brokers about the Guaranteed Standard Issue Disability offerings, creating plan designs for their clients and conducting enrollment meetings.

Pete attended college at Northeastern University where he earned his BS in Political Science with a Minor in History. Currently he lives in Norwell, MA with his wife Natalie and in his spare time enjoys golfing, cooking and travelling. 


Jessica Fahey

Business Development Coordinator

Jessica joined CFG Brokerage Network in 2014 and is the Business Development Coordinator. She is responsible for developing marketing strategies for our brokers and overseeing the client relationships. She also supports the Managing Director, Michael Moran.

Prior to joining CFG Brokerage Network, Jessica worked as the Private Client Group Liaison at Joyal Capital Management, LLC assisting in the estate, financial and business analysis process for new and existing clients.

Jessica graduated from Curry College with a degree in Communication.

Currently she resides in Marshfield, MA and enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

Molly Gustafson

Business Development Coordinator

Molly has been at CFG Brokerage Network in April of 2016. Prior to joining, she was running a Real Estate photography and marketing Company called Remark Visions. In her role as Business Development Coordinator, Molly focuses on the companys outreach programs, marketing initiatives and internal management projects.

Molly attended college at Wittenberg University where she majored in Psychology and was also named an All-American in swimming. In her spare time, Molly enjoys skiing, cooking and hanging out with her two favorite Black Labs. Originally from West Hartford, CT, Molly currently resides in South Boston.

Thomas Carroll

New Business Development Coordinator

Thomas joined CFG Brokerage Network as a New Business Coordinator in 2016. In his role as New Business Development Coordinator, he is responsible for business submission and underwriting. Prior to joining CFG, Thomas worked at John Hancock in the Rollover Education Center where he educated participants on their 401(k) rollover options and helped open IRAs.

Thomas graduated from Fisher College with a degree in Business Administration. He currently resides in Saugus, MA and enjoys playing and watching football. Thomas has also served as a volunteer for Cradles to Crayons, the Boston Marathon, MLK Scholars Program, the Wounded Warrior Project and the Greater Boston Foodbank for Thanksgiving dinner.     


Kerri Casey

Coordinator, New Business

Kerri joined Commonwealth Financial Group in 2010 and she now serves as New Business Coordinator for Brokerage. In her role she is responsible for New Business submission and underwriting, as well as Contracting and Licensing.

Prior to joining CFG, Kerri taught students grades pre-k to 8th grade.

Kerri graduated from New England College with a degree in Literature and Philosophy.

Kerri currently resides in Braintree, MA and in her spare time she enjoys spending time with family.


Perry M. Smith, JD*, LL.M., CLU, ChFC, CFP ®

Senior Partner- Estate & Business Planning

Perry M. Smith received his Bachelor of Arts Degree (honors) in Government and Policy Studies from Dartmouth College in 1980.  He received his J.D. from American University (1984) and his LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law (1987).  He has earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) (1986) as well as Certified Financial Planner® (1995) professional designations, and is a Licensed Insurance Advisor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (1995).

He worked for U.S. Trust Company of New York (1980-1983) as a Trust Officer, the State Mutual Life Assurance Company (1984-1987), and the Law Department of The New England (1987-1990), as assistant counsel. He has worked previously with Commonwealth Financial Group (1990-1998) and Baystate Financial Group (2000-2006) as Director of Advanced Sales. He also spent two years (1998-2000) as a partner at Carlin, Charron & Rosen Financial Services, LLC - the financial arm of the then largest regional CPA firm in New England. He specializes in individual, estate and business planning focusing on creative solutions to client goals and issues with a close eye on their tax implications. He is currently admitted to practice in Massachusetts (1985) and New York (1985), as well as Federal District Court (1986), U.S. Tax Court (1988) and U.S. Supreme Court (1989).

In addition to his professional responsibilities, he has been [16 years] a part-time instructor at Boston University's Metropolitan College teaching CFP #6 (Estate and Business Planning) and [15 years] Treasurer for the Holt -Elwell Memorial Foundation, which supports a 112 year old 7-week summer boy's camp on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire. He resides in Wellesley with his wife, Eva Ribarits, Esq.

Jack Priebe, CFP ®

Director of Advanced and Business Planning

Jack joined Commonwealth Financial Group in 2005 from Baystate Financial Services, where he was an analyst for 2 years performing estate planning analyses.   He developed and managed our Design Center with a Financial Planning Dept for 9 years, beginning solely with himself to a current 4 other employees.

At the end of 2014 Jack began specializing in providing support and training on advanced and business planning concepts along with continuing producing business valuations as part of the CFG process.

Jack holds a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from the University of Michigan. In addition, he holds the CFP designation and a graduate certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University.
